Youth B.L.A.S.T. communicates what we are serious about doing, that is, Building Lives Around Sound Truth.
In John 17:17 Jesus declares when talking with God the Father, “Your Word is Truth.” Based on Christ’s statement truth has one source. It is not the world. Hollywood, Time magazine, Facebook, and textbooks are not the final authorities on matters related to the past, present, and future. The Word of God is.
With this in mind, we major on teaching young people the Scriptures and joining with parents in the responsibility of nurturing hearts for God. When we come together we study Scripture to understand God’s truth and to learn the principles He has given to guide us in our daily living (2 Peter 1:3). In addition, we emphasize the value of inter-generational discipleship and mentoring (2 Timothy 2:2).
Each Sunday at 9:30 a.m. we meet together to dig into the Bible. One of our goals is to gain a better understanding of how the entire Bible fits together as a unified whole.
Every Wednesday at 6:45-8:15 p.m. we connect in the Youth Room for an intense time in God’s Word . These minutes include worshiping God in song, study through a book of the Bible, fellowship, and… a yummy snack.
The title was born out of the youth’s study in James 2:18-26. James talks about a faith that is dead because the individual merely acknowledged God but lacked the changed life that bares evidence of genuine trust in Christ. As a result, Living Faith was born with the intention of organizing events that will give the youth and their families the opportunities to put their faith to practice by serving others within and outside the Church.
Events and activities are wonderful opportunities for young people to come together and enjoy hanging-out in a safe, wholesome environment. For dates and times see the NBC Family Calendar.
